When I first hit 70, I ran heroic Mechanaar only twice before the Sun Eater dropped for me. Other tanks in my guild had run it until Exalted without even seeing it drop, let alone getting it. Well apparently the World of Warcraft gods are cruel and unforgiving because I have run heroic Utgarde Pinnicle every day since dinging 80 and the Red Sword of Courage has yet to show it’s face to me.
A priest, a hunter and a DPS warrior in my guild have for Pete’s sake, but I haven’t even seen it drop. In the meantime I’ve had the Abomination Shoulderblades drop from Gluth in Naxx-10 (which according to WoWHead have a drop rate of 0.7% from Gluth since he drops everything else in the zone). My frustration has peaked to the point where the others who have it wear it around me before pulls and I’m going crazy.
Not to mention the Hammer of Quiet Mourning is one of the ugliest models and skins in the game.
Anyone else running into frustrating drop rates?

The sword is the last item I need till naxx and if not for my guild mate I would think it is a myth. Would like to by an epic one for badgets like most other classes can but i will miss the 1k Devastate crits (atm I use a really slow defsword) good luck to you and hopefully it will drop for us tomorrow
Grats on finally getting it! My tanking weapons have been very hit and miss over the years. Took less than 10 runs to get the suneater, took me a year to get the King’s defender, and got the Mallet of the Tides on my 3rd time into SSC. I am hoping it drops soon for me as well. I havent seen a single tanking epic drop in heroics yet

Gratz on the sword. I’ve been lucky on tanking drops.
The first 10man Naxx we did I specced prot and tanking gear was just dropping everywhere. I got helm, neck, chest, gloves, and belt. Got my tanking shoulders from 25man naxx too the day before that. Making my offspec gear alot better than my main that week.
Heroic drop wise I got every epic tanking piece to drop except for the epic tanking ring from H Drak Keep.

Yea I went through UP 13 times on heroic and the sword didn’t drop. I finally got something decent last night though when Maexxna’s Femur dropped and nobody else wanted it. It doesn’t have tanking stats other than the agil and stamina but holy crap this thing generates crazy threat. I was hitting 1300-1400 dps raid buffed as a main tank.
